Def Stan 00-810 compliant labelling

The unique requirements for the marking of munitions packaging as required by Def Stan 00-810 introduces additional restrictions when it comes to the use of labels for defence contracts.

After completing a significant amount of research into to the intricacies of label media manufacturing and tested & certified compliance of the finished label product, to our knowledge, there is currently no labelling solution that achieves full compliance with the requirements of Def-Stan 00-810.

This is bad news for smaller OME suppliers those supporting short order or niche OME requirements.

As such, Hephaestus OME is developing our own in-house printing and labelling capability tailored specifically to the requirements of explosives packaging and labelling compliance for MOD.

Site compliance inspections

Hephaestus OME consultants are experienced in inspectorate activities and can conduct site inspections covering all aspects of regulatory legislative compliance.

We will provide a full report identifying all periodic tests, routine maintenance and explosive area management including all supporting documentation. We can highlight areas for improvement before they become and non-compliances, and help develop and apply any rectification or improvement plan.

Staff Training

Explosives policy and planning is only as good as those who enact and enforce it.

We are currently developing a range of training courses for both employers and employees aimed at ensuring everyone understands the importance of explosive safety and their role within it.

It is our goal to have all our courses approved by the Institute of Explosives Engineers.

NATO codification

Hephaestus OME provides NATO Codification services to assist UK companies in the classification and cataloguing of their inventory in preparation for submission for NSN codification as well as the application process itself.

Incident investigation

Our consultants have extensive experience in non-forensic munitions and explosive incident investigation.  We can conduct impartial investigations into the occurrence of:

  • Non performance-related faults
  • OME performance failures and defects
  • Accidents involving OME in handling, storage and use.
  • Unintended explosive events.

Our investigations will seek to identify the contributing factors and occurrences leading up to an incident with an aim to identify route causes and any area for improvement in procedures or policy to increase explosive safety and prevent reoccurrence.
